Definition
A building permit is an official approval that allows you or your contractor to proceed with a construction or remodeling project on your property. The building permit statistics are the annual number of building permits that were given.
Why This Matters
The main purpose of any building permits is to ensure safety. By enforcing proper safety standards, you are doing you best to avoid any accidents or issues during the construction process.
Building Permits are able to measure the current demand in the real estate market and estimates the future performance of the construction industry. It is designed to gauge the strength of the housing market and the state of the economy in general (Freidberg Direct).

Ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being for all at all ages is essential to sustainable development. Significant strides have been made in increasing life expectancy and reducing some of the common killers associated with child and maternal mortality. Major progress has been made on increasing access to clean water and sanitation, reducing malaria, tuberculosis, polio and the spread of HIV/AIDS. However, many more efforts are needed to fully eradicate a wide range of diseases and address many different persistent and emerging health issues.
